Shoe Rack is an interactive storage and lighting concept inspired by the emotional experience of returning to an empty home.
Rather than functioning solely as a storage unit, the shoe rack communicates presence and absence within a household. Each family member is assigned an individual rack, which subtly illuminates to indicate whether someone is home or away. For single-person households, the rack responds by greeting the user with light upon arrival, offering a sense of warmth and reassurance.
The system features integrated pressure sensors that activate an LED ring when shoes are placed inside, allowing the rack to function both as a practical organizer and an ambient interior element. Different lighting modes correspond to various situations—family time, quiet moments, or social gatherings—transforming everyday routines into emotionally responsive interactions.
Available in multiple sizes for adults and children, Shoe Rack blends functional storage with emotional awareness, redefining how furniture can support both daily habits and human connection.
