Seline is a multidisciplinary designer with a strong focus on CMF-driven design, working across product, object, and visual systems. She identifies as a 5D designer, approaching design through the integration of color, material, form, surface, and user experience.
Originally from South Korea, she studied Industrial Design and Visual Communication Design at Ewha Women’s University, where she built a dual foundation in product development and visual language. During her undergraduate studies, she gained hands-on experience through internships at graphic and industrial design studios in Seoul.
After earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in 2008, Seline moved to the United States to pursue an MFA in 3D Design at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. At Cranbrook, she explored object-based design through material experimentation, form development, and the emotional impact of color and finish—strengthening her sensitivity to how CMF decisions shape perception and interaction.
Following graduate school, she worked as a Product Development Designer for interior accessories at one of Korea’s leading home furnishing companies, where she was directly involved in product development, material selection, and sourcing, collaborating with manufacturers to bring concepts into production.
Since returning to Michigan in 2011, Seline has worked as a freelance designer on projects spanning product design, CMF development, and visual systems. She is currently directing art and design programs at ArtLab J, where she leads curriculum development and creative direction with a focus on material awareness, spatial thinking, and interdisciplinary design education. In parallel, she serves as Design Director for the Detroit Dance City Festival (DDCF), overseeing brand identity systems across digital, print, spatial, and experiential platforms.
Seline’s work positions CMF as a strategic design layer rather than a decorative finish—using color, material, and surface to communicate durability, emotion, and brand intent. By working across conceptual, visual, material, spatial, and experiential dimensions, she creates cohesive design solutions that balance aesthetics, performance, and human-centered experience.
